Vitalik Buterin Reveals About Upcoming Ethereum Update

Vitalik Buterin, the visionary behind Ethereum, has unfurled insights into the forthcoming evolution of this blockchain behemoth. In his exposition, Buterin highlights an ambitious endeavor to streamline the framework’s architecture, thereby alleviating the burden on its nodes. The crux of this phase’s advancement hinges on the enactment and refinement of EIP-6780, unveiled amidst the recent Dencun hard fork. This initiative enhances the SELFDESTRUCT opcode’s functionality, fortifying security while simplifying the protocol’s enactment.

Buterin has delineated several enhancements targeted at refining Ethereum’s protocol. A notable development is the excision of superfluous code by a Geth client, eradicating network support previously integrated pre-Merge, alongside the rectification of the “empty accounts” quandary through EIP-7523.

This renovation has led to the discontinuation of support for a majority of vacant accounts originating from Ethereum’s proof-of-work (PoW) networks. Furthermore, the Dencun update introduces an 18-day tenure for blob storage, capping the data at a static 50 GB, thereby contributing to the protocol’s streamlined complexity.

Buterin also advocates for the adoption of a precompilation strategy. This involves Ethereum contracts imbued with logic directly executed by the clients, circumventing the need for EVM code.
